That is a heck of a good idea. I read on the internet about a guy who used solar power to charge marine/wheel chair batteries which he used on a long camping trip. You are going to need an inverter. It is very doable. I am interested in the same thing because one of these days, there is going to be a natural disaster (Hurricane Juan, etc.), and I know that sooner or later I will need to have a "Plan B" if regular power is interupted. Happended last winter here for example.

I have kind of researched this, and I understand that the kind of battery you will need is something like an RV battery, or a marine battery. You need a "pure sine wave" inverter because CPAP/APAP is high tech equipment.

Apparantly, if you run the humidifier, you will need a lot more battery. If you want to get around that, you could rig up a passover type humidifier, or simply bring bigger batteries and more pannels.

If you want to spend up to five hundred bucks on it, Honda has a generator that has a built-in pure sine wave inverter (suitable for computer equipment) and is marketed as being "very quiet". In that case, you would have to truck jerry cans of fuel up to your camp. Could use the generator to directly power the CPAP or could also use it to charge a battery (or both :) ).

Please post about what you did. I am interested.

Best of luck.
