I have had central apnea since 1963, the result of a rear end collision and a damaged brain stem.

It was not diagnosed til 1990 and a trach later stopped most events.

The centrals continued and a timed bi pap attached directly to my trach has stopped all centrals. Not a cure but the next best thing.

I experience great sleep now but have other problems due to the extended time it took to find the sleep problems.

Heart, lung and kidney failure from years of undiagnosed central apnea.

Non compliance to proper treatment can cause more problems than most folks realize.
