The hitting, running down the hall, other physical activities are not normally associated with sleep apnea; however, there are 80-some identified sleep disorders and it certainly sounds like something going on. He needs to see a sleep specialist ASAP. Clicking on the Sleep Links at the top of this page will lead you to links for sleep labs and professional organizations, among others.

Good luck. I hope your husband is not resistant to diagnostic procedures or treatment.
