If that failed, they should have tried a “full face” (ff) mask. Most ff masks cover only the mouth and nose, although I think a true helmet mask is available.

I agree that the sleep lab was negligent in not working with you to find a solution. Don’t let them state that you were “uncooperative;” this is nonsense!
