Posted by D.H. on August 24, 2008 at 09:03:35:I’ve been on CPAP for nine years now. I was retitrated recently. Surprisingly, I was somewhat more fidgety than I have been during past sleep tests, despite that this is probably at least my tenth time.
Here are the conclusions.
1. My pressure was raised from 12cmH2O to 13cmH2O. This is pretty routine and unsurprising.
2. My mouth was open and I was grinding my teeth. I was using my own mask which was an Ultra-mirage II mask. I’d been using this type of mask for years, and it had worked well most of that time. First they tried a chin strap to no avail. Next, they switched me to a Comfort Gel mask in the middle of the night. They concluded that my mouth was closed most of the time on this mask, and that I was grinding my teeth somewhat less. Thankfully, I am still able to use a nasal mask.The point here is that the choice of masks is a very individual one, and that it should be re-examined from time-to-time.
