gas for dental procedure.

I have a 3 hour dental visit coming up. The dentist has suggested that she use gas. I wonder if this is safe with the apnea. Has anyone used the gas since they have been using an apap? I try not to sleep without the machine even in the hospital. Any opinions or suggestions.
