Taking sleep medications with UNTREATED apnea is definitely a problem. The doctor on TV was probably talking about untreated apnea. Discuss with your doctor, its probably OK as long as the CPAP is successfully treating the apnea.

I regularly take Ambien and use my CPAP with no problems.
