Two things about using an auto-BiPAP: This is the best PAP there is to offer. If you had asked for one or needed one of these 10 years ago, most clinicians would have said it is beyond technology and would not ever be developed. So, you should feel comforted that they came up with it and that it is the best that can be offered.

The second issue is not to focus on the what the dr. says with respect to all the AHI and data. You probably have severe apnea and this machine treats that. If you're concerned that you still have an AHI of 5, that number is considered good! And most of that component is likely hypopnea, or partial apnea, and not necessarily full blown apneas, since the machine can sense when an apnea is coming on and ramp up the pressure to prevent it from happening.

Achieving better results may require getting over to a nasal only mask since FF masks can be problematic and can drive AHI artificially higher. Nasal and sinus blockage, which sets up a need for FF masks, can be caused by diet. Stopping dairy foods like milk, butter, and cheese has been known to help people in this area. Soy milk and soy based salad dressings can be a great alternative.
