Is a CPAP necessary?

Hi all,

I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea with an "rdi of 39.7 events per hour with oxygen desaturations down to 74%". Not sure if that is good or bad. I suspect bad.

The doc recommended a particular machine that costs R9050 here in South Africa. My medical aid generously offered to pay R1.33 towards it. So, no machine in my future.

Is it worth me saving up that amount of money? It will take more than a year of extreme frugality to afford it. Are the machines that good that it will be worth it?

Regards,
Evyn
