I was diagnosed with S.O.A. in March. I have multiple sleep disorders incl. RLS & PLMD. I have to take Requip, Clonizapam and Zopiclone, there is no pattern sometimes they work but no two nights never the same. These meds dehyrate me to the point of consuming a bottle of water throughout the night - I wake up 10 - 20 times. I'm also concerned about my teeth because of the pressure and the lack of moisture on my gums. My life has been a living hell since going on the machine as I can't sleep with it and I daren't sleep without it. I never look forward to going to bed, more like a torture chamber. I will never be able to nap according to my Sleep Specialist (one of the things I have looked forward in my retirement).Irony is that I can sleep like a log after ripping it off at 6a.m.however I know for sure that I have had many apneas during the ensuing hour. I use nasal pillows and am constantly fiddling with mask during the night as I have small facial features as it leaks if I move so I have to sleep on my back. I don't understand why they can't custom make these masks. I wish there were local support groups for this disorder as I feel totally isolated, my friends don't understand and a bad night to them is waking up 2 or 3 times - I feel they think I am neurotic. My sleep specialist said I am complicated due to the conflict of sleep disorders, I thought the CPAP would change my life for the better, so far I feel that although I have faced many challenges in my life this one has brought me to my knees. Does anyone else out there have multiple sleep disorders and if so how do they deal with them? Thank you.
