I use the exact same method to modify band-aids to use on the nose-bridge.

You can cut the sides of the adhesive strip off and shorten both ends to minimize (just how StarCat described)unnecessary coverage. I had a very irritated bridge (BiPaper for about a year) for the first several months until sometime taught me this trick). Yea for these forums!! Mine never got to the "open-sore point"; thus, can't offer any advice here. Good Luck
