You've been on CPAP long enough to become complacent to the aid that it is. This happens to all people who stay on CPAP and take a liking to it. Your body thinks only CPAP now. A person's lower diaphram area expands out to draw in a breath, day or night. If you put on a weight lifter's belt around your belly, tighten it then sit down, you can definatly feel a breathing restriction, because the belly has to expand out and it can't expand. Put the same belt around your chest and it doesn't have the same effect. Chest movement doesn't figure as much into taking a breath.
Dental applicances are ok, approved, and do work for some.
The best way to get better while on CPAP is through diet and exercise.
