Need CPAP for hypopneas?

Someone recently said that if you only have hypopneas and Reras and very few apneas, you don't need CPAP because it's not dangerous. I wouldn't cry if I didn't have to use my CPAP any more. I have hardly any real apneas in my study, just mostly hypops and Reras and 91 is my lowest SaO2. I can't believe my physician would prescribe CPAP if it's not necessary but I want to check here. Seems like any reduction in airflow could at least cause drowsiness, although perhaps not the more serious consequences associated with OSA.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Leslie.
