From my experience, snoring while using CPAP is an indication the pressure is too low. Typically, when titrating, the first thing to disappear are the apneas. Next the pressure is raised to removed any snoring. Then the tech looks for cyclic arousal's which are an indication of UARS and increases the pressure until they disappear on his back and preferably in REM sleep.

If the snoring is happening in Non-REM, usually in the first half of the night, breathing will be worse in REM sleep.

You can try having him sleep on his side. If he doesn't snore and feels refreshed in the morning then he should stay on his side. If the snoring continues on his side or he can't sleep on his side with the mask, you need to talk to his sleep doc, not the tech, and if the sleep doc says it is ok, get a second opinion.

Best wishes,
Sandman
