Anyone watch the tv show HOUSE Tuesday night. They had a patient and were testing her for sleep apnea. So two of his docs do the recording, the docs are also sleep techs, then in the middle of the night they notice the patient isn't in her bed. She is exercising, didn't see any eeg or other wires.

The big flaw was in the morning. House mentions getting the sleep apnea report later and one of the two recording docs says "no need for the report, the presence of alpha waves ruled out sleep apnea" and no mention of breathing. House agreed with the interpretation. The irony is alpha waves, during apnea arousal's, could be one factor that would have ruled it in.

The writers of HOUSE need to talk to some sleep specialist. This isn't the first time they have done a sleep recording and they have never gotten it right.

On the positive side, sleep apnea is getting into TV and the movies.

Best wishes,
Sandman
