Hello All:
I have 74 apneas when sleeping on my side. 96 when sleeping on my back. Total of 409 a night. Oxygen desaturation is low but can't remember the #'s. Saw the Oral and Maxillofacail yesterday. His treatment plan is this:braces, surgical assisted palatal expansion with sarpe, tongue reduction (btr), hyoid suspension and a z palatoplasty. Does anybody have info on the first and last procedures? Is the z palatoplasty a UPPP just with a different name? Then after about a year with the braces a MMA/GA. The ENT said he wants to do a sleep endoscopy to determine exactly where the obstructions are. He also wants to repair my deviated septum. These two guys work together on alot of cases. The O and M Surgeon is the Department Chairman of the O and M Department of a major hospital here in Houston. Should be a good Dr. right? He said that the first phase of procedures should give me some relief til I can have the MMA/GA. I do need some relief. What do ya'll think of all this? Thanks!
