Well, ok, never mind that. I'm just really tired, so I guess I'm grouchy.
I have myofascial TrPs (triggerpoints) in my nose, and they can kick off a day's worth of paroxysmal sneezing, which is what happened today. Left nostril. No clear cause. I did run out of H2O in the reservoir sometime during the night, and the house I live in is very dry. Possibly that contributed. Also, was doing some in-depth housecleaning. (dust? mold?)Anyhow, been sneezing like a madwoman and nose running (both nostrils) like a faucet all day. Sometimes the sneezes come every 20 seconds or so, and sometimes just one right after the other w/o even a breath in between. Occasionally I get 5 or 10 minutes respite, but the nose still runs - out of control. Used at least a box of tissues in one day, and I use them till they drip, i.e., thoroughly.
It doesn't feel like a cold. But huge upper area congestion. 2:30 a.m. now, and still nose running, but I'm not sneezing.
The night before, I fell asleep in my desk chair over the computer, for maybe 4 or 5 hrs, and when I woke up at 3:15 a.m. we were having an ice-induced power outage. So went to bed but no CPAP that night. Now this waterfall effect.
I use a nose gel mask, which sometimes fits fine, and often leaks really bad. Sometimes I can only get it to not leak if I lie on my back in one position all night and cant my head back (stiff neck and shoulders happens very soon), and don't dare move 1/4 inch! This is not fun, guys.
2 questions: first, can I manage the CPAP tonight? Will it start the sneezing again? What do I do, if the sneezing starts when I'm on the CPAP in bed? What the dickens is going on?
second, the nurse, from the place where I rent the machine, is due to come w/ yet another model (called a nasal pillow) tomorrow, late a.m., only this time, her supervisor said I wd have to pay for it, because I've had trouble w/ 3 or 4 masks before (one of which was because THEY sent the wrong size). These little gizmos cost $50 and up: (way up), but at least they're cheaper than the nose masks. So, I'm thinking if my sneezing and running-faucet nose are still going, I shd not have her come. It might be all the harder to fit a new mask, and she might think I was contagious and just want to get away w/o doing a good fitting. Maybe better reschedule. Does that make sense? I'm so tired, and it's hard to figure this out on my own.
I don't know why the darn thing fits one night and not the next, either!
Thanks for any insights. I'll check in in the a.m., in time to call off the nurse, if need be, but I guess I'm on my own w/ the sneezles (no wheezles). It's calmed down since I started writing this, so I think I'll try the CPAP and see if I get away w/ it. I badly need the deep sleep!
Thanks again.
