You should definately get the sleep study. Your symptoms do sound like sleep apnea to me. Many people with sleep apnea are not overweight. There are other risk factors, such as having a small airway, having a weak chin, etc. that are independent variables.

There is no harm in getting the test. If the results are negative for OSA, then you will have ruled it out and can look into other causes. If the results are positive, take comfort in knowing that there are good treatments that can reverse sleep apnea. For example, CPAP therepy and also MMA surgery. In short, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by taking the test.
