Posted by Riv on December 28, 2008 at 17:17:42:I used to think that I was a great interpreter of dreams 9especially my own). LOL, I'd like to still think that I could understand my dreams as they are the gateway into the soul (I guess) but I have a new way of understanding (to put it nicely) now that I realize that some dreams might indicate apnea events (although dream content can still be psychologically interpreted as well).
But what I don't understand is today's dream:
First of all, my pressure has been changed due to a new titration study (which I'd like to post about as I have a few questions) and my machine now set for BiPap instead of AutoBiPap. My old pressure was set for 20/11, the new pressure stays set at 18I/14E, I also have two new masks, both are Quattros, one is medium and the other is small. Both are tight and the nre pressure may be hard to adjust to. My Respironics LCD 7/30 day display says that my leak rate is rising but I question the accuracy of this possible sales gimmick of a socalled 7/30 day average (see my other new post)..........The new masks are uncomfortable though and I've been waking up tired after 5/6 hours and taking the mask off and getting a little more sleep, I remember more dreams when I sleep without the mask.
In today's dream (had without my mask on), I had a book (I'm an avid reader), was on a subway platform (outdoor or open air one). My book fell on the tracks, I lowered myself down onto the tracks to retrieve it, saw the third rail, made sure to not touch the third rail with my leg, got the book, tried to turn my body to the left to left my leg over the other rail in order to avoid the third (electric) rail, found I couldn't move my body while in the position I was (I saw the headlights of the oncoming train but it was a safe distance away, I felt no fear of the train) but couldn't move my body and i didn't know why. Finally I had to jerk myself into moving to the right side (near the third rail) and the movement woke me up.
You guessed it! AI ! I had been having an apnea which I recognized from the numbness in my arm (lack of oxygen?) but what I don't understand was that I had been sleeping on my left side and I had to move closer to sleeping flat on my back in order to wake myself (or to stop the apnea?). Would it be more normal to have the apnea while on my back and for me to move to my side?
Can anyone enlighten me about what any of this means?
