I'm taking xanax for anxiety and insomnia and with it I can get 4 to 5 hours of sleep per night. Without it, even less. I will typically wake up after the 4 hours and have a hard time getting back to sleep. When I start to nod off again, it feels as though my heart is beating harder and I get a whooshing noise in my ears, which wakes me back up again. There's also that funny lurching feeling in the pit of my stomach that many insomniacs have as they drift off. I do have sleep apnea that I'm having a difficult time controlling because cpap and bipap weren't working to relieve it. I used to wake up with a rapidly pounding heart feeling as though I'm blacking out. I usually end up getting up for the day at 4 or 5 a.m. when I don't want to which makes for a very long day and I hate it. I'm not sure if this is from the apnea or if it's anxiety or if I have a seperate heart issue. It seems to me that if this were purely anxiety the xanax would address it. So far the xanax only takes care of the whooshing noise, which I often hear during the day. Just curious if anyone here has had this experience. Thanx.
