Posted by BreathingEZ on January 04, 2009 at 18:18:10:I was a thousand miles and two nights away from home last week when the plenum piece (the part that holds the nasal pillows) on my Breeze mask broke, as it generally does after half a year of use. Unfortunately, I had neither a spare mask nor a spare "plenum" with me. The breakage happened about an hour after we had gone to bed when I made a sudden move. A sharp tug from the hose broke the plastic piece. I knew I was in for two bad nights if I didn't come up with some kind of repair. As I lay there awake, it occurred to me that I could take the velcro side straps off the headpiece and velcro them together to make a tight loop around my head. I could use that loop to hold the broken plenum with the nasal pillows in the proper position. Of course, I had to be careful not to block the exhaust with the strap, and that was kind of tricky. My wife added the suggestion that we put some soft material between the broken top of the plenum and my nose, because it was cutting into my skin. We felt sort of like NASA after the Apollo 13 explosion. The fit wasn't perfect, and there was a bit of leakage, but the result was two pretty good nights of sleep with this crudely improvised mask device. I thought I would pass this along in case anyone ever finds themselves in a similar situation with a broken Breeze mask.
