Coping till I get treated

I'm a 39 y.o. woman with a severe apnea diagnosis and I'm still waiting to go get fitted for CPAP (long story, involves insurance). Lately I've been noticing that the side effects are getting worse, i.e. falling asleep at work morning and afternoon (where it used to be occasional), sometimes getting drowsy while driving. I understand that although I'm having a second polysomnography with CPAP it will still probably take time to adjust; does anyone have any suggestions on how to cope with the symptoms until relief kicks in? I'm lucky to have an understanding employer, but I don't want to push my luck...

Thanks!
