I don't see how this can be an equipment problem. How would a faulty hose or filter affect your breathing during the daytime? This sounds like something you might want to bring to the attention of your doctor. You seem to be doing everything right CPAP-wise, but there might be some other health issue that's causing the shortness of breath.
