My allergy doctor told me 99% of people have deviated septums, some minimal but a few people have a sufficiently severe deviation to interfere with breathing. However, if it did not interfere with your breathing prior to CPAP, I would question whether it is causing a problem now. In any event, surgery is the only way to correct it.
I know people fuss because I am one who jumps into the fray about using heated humidity, but in cases of stuffy noses, it really does help. The volume of dry air from the CPAP can really dry and irritate the mucous membranes and cause swelling and even significant congestion and runny nose. Even a little bit of swelling can cause discomfort. If you haven't been using heated humidity, I would suggest you give it a try and I hope you replace your broken hose quickly and get back on CPAP. Sleeping without it is not a good idea. Good luck to you.
