Sad but true. I've lost 72 lbs. thus far and I'm still plagued with apnea. I think it's how your upper airway is put together. There are ppl who weigh 110 lbs with terrible apnea with a bad airway and 500 lb ppl who have great airways who don't have apnea. Weight is an aggravating factor but not the whole story. I had so much hope the apnea would be gone when I lost the weight and it seemed to 'go away' for awhile and lessen in severity. Now it's back with a vengeance (sp). I'm starting a new machine called an ASV because the cpap and bipap didn't seem to help. It's for people who are not helped by standard treatment, which makes me feel really good. It's my last hope. I don't know what I'll do if this doesn't work, because I feel as though I will have exhausted my treatment options or that I have something worse than apnea, which I'd hate to imagine.
