I had a second sleep study done in December. Since I have been on c-pap it has been hell dealing with all of the nasal sinus problems.
I never had sinus problems prior to getting on to cpap.(other than the common cold) The sleep doc raised the machine to 10 (prior was 7)and it the fun began!
I mean we definately still had problems with nasal drainage before, but not the level it is now. Since Jan. 1st I have noted that I have had "cold like symptoms" at least 6 times! I have spoken to the sleep doc(prescribed yet another nasal spray), my reg. doc prescribed taking an allergy med(Zyrtec) and went to an ENT who wanted to put me on antibiotics for 3 months!(just a short note that am allergic to many antibiotics already and dread going on anything that long for fear there will be nothing left for me to take if I get allergic to another type!)This ENT is also a surgeon and of course also suggested that we consider surgery if meds failed. I don't want surgery. I have had problems in the past with anesthesia and post surgery complications.Have heard that surgery is not always the answer.( 2 friends of mine have sleep apnea and had surgery)
I feel terribly depressed because this has affected my life by taking days off from work, going thru boxes and boxes of tissues, not to speak of the embarrassment of constantly blowing my nose in public.(when I am out)
I have a humidifier and use it every time I am on cpap. Also, it was raised recently.(last month) I clean the machine and hose and nose piece a lot.I do not use soap because when I first started on the machine I found I was getting a reaction to the soap so I went to alcohol and hot water. I am sure to rinse each item very well and let them dry! So, help! What is going on?
I am suffering again today and last night went to an Urgent Care office only to be told I was doing everything right and taking the right meds and he would put me on antibiotics(even tho there was not an infection). I declined.
Sorry, this is so long. Where do I go for help?
