I know that many people encourage the use of a heated humidifier, but some of us find the humidifier unnecessary and unhelpful. I don't like breathing damp, wet air through the night. If the room air is moist enough to breathe while awake, it's moist enough for me to breathe at night. That it's being breathed at 10cm pressure is irrelevant as far as I can tell. My feeling is that head colds and sinus problems are always bad with PAP, but I suspect that the viruses and bacteria thrive on that moist, warm air from the humidifier and the inevitable residue all that moisture deposits in the nooks and crannies of the mask and tubing. I know those of us who forego the humidifier are a minority, but until I'm on pure oxygen I just don't see the benefit of additional humidification. Sinus infections are tough to cure, with or without CPAP. Good luck!
