Nasal congestion can be caused by a rebound affect using Afrin. Here's how to ween yourself off of it. Us it in just one nostril. The other will close up but you still have one to breathe with. After about three days the congestion will clear up and you can discontinue the Afrin in the second nostril. It worked for me. Now if I need it I only use it in one nostril.
