I have not been there, but have a friend who worked in Russia as an English teacher. He told me that the police in Russia are very corrupt and often try to "shake down" tourists. For example, they might approach you, come up with some way that you have allegedly violated some kind of rule and threaten to put you in jail unless you give something to them (according to my friend, this ranged from cigarettes to money). For this reason, I would strongly suggest that you have all you paperwork for your CPAP machine, such as the prescription, etc.
