I don't believe there is any appeal process if you are denied coverage by a private insurance carrier. You may be confusing this with the process of appealing a claim if you are already covered. If you are not employed where you can receive group insurance your options get very limited. You need to take any job that has coverage as an option, or you need to be married to someone who can cover you as a spouse, or you need to old enough to be on medicare, or you need to live in a state that has plans for those who are not insurable.

It is really the sad fact of the CURRENT system that any health problem, even if you don't think is is major, might disqualify a person for individual private health insurance. If you watch current national politics, you may know that the current system is under debate and may change.

A good thing to try is to look in the yellow pages under insurance brokers and call a few of them. Ask if they represent any companies that have affordable plans.
