I believe you are asking about dental appliances for sleep apnea and not mouth guards for sports. A sports mouth guard may help with teeth grinding at night but does nothing to ease apnea.

There is a group of dental appliances out there that are approved for treatment of sleep apnea, but you cannot know for sure whether or not it would be right for you just by listening to others who use them. Too many factors come into the making and use of the appliance for any given person.

In general, CPAP works better for more people than dental appliances. Appliances that work are expensive and need to be a custom fit and can only be worn by people with good teeth, especially good molars. It also helps if the severity of your apnea is on the mild side.

Since you have not included any details, I will leave my comments here. Perhaps if you can give any more details about your situation we can get a discussion going on this topic.
