It measures pauses in breathing by changes in temperature with sensors under the nose and above the mouth.

I hate that the doctor's on the NHS always discourage you from looking into things further. I am going to have to phone back and try and persuade them to give me a full sleep study now. I should have just said I wanted one. I really wasn't aware of what the oximetry shows.
