I'm probably not the best one to answer since I'm a retired senior and have no issues with dating and some of those things that come up.
I use an autopap, which I think should replace all CPAPs; I firmly believe everyone should be able to monitor their own nightly stats, but the U.S. manufacturers of equipment are very reluctant to provide the software to the patient. I think this is very counterproductive. The pressure changes during the night don't bother me. One doctor I saw was firmly opposed to the auto-adjusting feature because he felt the body adjusts better to a fixed pressure all night. However, with allergies and various medications, my pressure needs vary widely and I started sleeping better after getting the auto. My machine has a built-in heated humidifier which is essential for me.
I alternate between the ResMed Ultra Mirage nasal mask and the Activa and find them very comfortable. I'm able to adjust them so they're not tight and experience only minimal leaks. I wouldn't be able to fall asleep now without the mask strapped on. On the whole, I am so grateful to be feeling so much better, and getting half my brain back, that CPAP is a small price to pay.
The one drawback I experience with the equipment is that my machine is heavy and bulky and presents difficulties when I travel. I think there are newer models that are smaller and lighter; however, I can't afford to buy a new one.
I hope this answers some of your questions.
