One thing you haven't mentioned, how severe your apnea is. Studies has shown that dental appliances do not work with severe sleep apnea. They work best in the mild sleep apnea group. Also, these devices are focusing on the base of tongue. Typically there is more than one area that needs treatment. That is why CPAP works so well, it hits all the areas.

Some dentist, trying to get the best result, will pull the lower jaw forward to a point it could damage your TMJ. So be careful.

The only way to know if they work is to have a sleep study using the device. It could take sleep apnea and create UARS. Without a sleep study you wouldn't know.

If you have a case of mild sleep apnea and cpap is the problem then a DA may be a good option to try. For severe sleep apnea I would recommend the surgical approach.

Best wishes,
Sandman
