I have mixed apnea: central since 1963 due to brain stem damage, obstructive for 20 years.

A permanent trach 15 years ago solved the obstructive problem and a timed bi pap attached to the trach solved the centrals.

This is the only solution which worked for me, I would advocate this only as a last resort.

I have had very little trouble over the years and have been comfortable with this setup as a new way of life.
