Hi. My DME has a rent to own situation with my asv. The doctor says no way will medicare pay for such an expensive machine and the cpap and bipap hasn't worked. My DME is apply to Medicare for coverage but hasn't gotten back to me. I don't expect much. The rent is 235/mo which strains me financially since I'm disabled and my other bills are high. I usually have to skimp on the electric bill so I can afford the machine. Then I soft soap the electric company telling them to please not shut my electric off because I have a machine that I depend on to breathe at night. You are right in saying that doctors and dmes, who could never understand such a situation or make choices like--these because they are well to do and rake in the dough from the apnea unfortunates--are uncaring. I notice sleep apnea equipment is big business, along with all the sleep clinics cropping up out there, none of which have helped me. But they certainly make a lot of money off people's misery, don't they? It's a cash cow for many. Sorry about the bitter rant. You have made some wonderful suggestions and I will follow up on them. If medicare turns me down for the machine, which I think they will, I will appeal it at least. Thanx so much.
