I'm in the process of starting to use a cpap so I don't have a lot of experience with it, but the machines are quite portable and you could take it with you on trips.
As far as the sleep overs go, you could keep it with you in the car if you suspect a sleep over... or you could skip it for the night.
Once you start using one, I think all of those concerns you have will start working themselves out.
I'm surprised by some of the nasty responses you got for asking some questions. I don't think anyone should be criticizing you for drinking and staying at friend's houses. At least you aren't out there drinking and driving so I'd say you're being very responsible. There's nothing wrong with tieing one on now and then. I did that in my younger days (47 now).
