I was 43 when I got my CPAP (that was ten years ago). The relief was so immediate that I just never considered any alternatives. Actually, the doctor did not think that I would be able to tolerate CPAP without surgery, but he said "let's try anyhow." Somehow it worked and I never needed surgery.
