I tried a hybrid mask. It was very comfortable, not claustrophobic and easy to wear. But the things up the nose leaked. They are round and don't fit very well if your nostrils are more oval like mine. The leak caused a rush of air on the inside of the nose, dried it out and made it bleed.

I suspect that they may not work if the pressure is high (no evidence).
But try it if you can because aside from the leak it was way betteer than a full face mask.
