Ok, had to find out about the mask setting, which should be correct. That can possibly cause problems if its wrong. I would like to caution against a few things since you're new to PAP therapy - The first caution would be to not focus too hard on what the machine numbers are. Everyone breathes a little bit differently, and if you had two PAPs of different manufacturers set for the same pressure, same mask, and used them on alternate nights, the numbers could be way different and you'd still be sleeping about the same. And, you can have periods where you're using you machine at the same pressure and the numbers go up and down. Also, years ago, the machines then didn't have data recording and people still managed, and maybe didn't get as worried.

The other caution would be against making random adjustments on your own too soon. Things have to settle out a bit since you haven't been on the machine that long. Things will get better.

The issue about your AHI being high is that the HI component figure is the culprit and it would be difficult to know, though, if this is an event or events that are obstructive in nature (brought on by too little pressure) or events that are central in nature (brought on by too much pressure). The ResMed machines can't tell or record between obstructive and central events, they just record hypopnea, which is a ventilation reduction of between 50 and 75% for more than 10 seconds.

Another issue is exhale relief. Could be that you need to be using exhale relief on the PAP, or if you're alreay using it, it needs to on a different setting or possibly be turned off.

The things to watch out for are any snoring into the mask while falling off to sleep or times during the night when you're pulling the mask off.

I would call your dr and let him/her know what's going on and maybe the bump in the pressure or some other things could be tried, but do it working with the dr this early in the game.
