There can be many causes. Perhaps it's accumulated sleep debt that still needs to be paid off. Perhaps your sleep architecture is off from years of Sleep Apnea.

I had this complaint too (clearly better than before, but still sleepy). I took Provigil for several years (for this complaint), but decided to discontinue.
