I had yet another sleep study this week. That makes 5.

I've been using cpap for 5 years, but I've never felt it was effective. This study was to titrate me for a bipap.

When the tech came in to unhook me, I asked what the settings were. She said 16/12, but there were a lot of central events. I said that's risk of the high pressure. She said I was having central events even to much lower pressure. Hmm, that's not good. It doesn't look like bipap is the answer.

This puts me into complex or mixed apnea. Some research suggests 15% of sleep apnea patients fall into this category and that the population responds poorly to cpap (certainly consistent with my own experience).

I'll meet with my doctor again the week after next. I suspect he'll try an ASV machine next. If that falls, it'll be MMA time.
