Hypersomnia means that you are excessively sleepy, so yes, that co-exists with OSA. Please do not worry excessively; you are on your way to getting the treatment you need. And you might need to take something like Provigil in addition to CPAP, if the doctor feels it's suitable for you.

Look at it this way: If the doctor prescribes something to help you stay more alert, then you'll be functioning better at your job and you'll be more likely to be among the employed. Think of it as being like a diabetic who needs insulin or someone who needs thyroid supplementation. The results of untreated sleep apnea are not always easily or immediately completely reversible. Studies in brain neuroplasticity indicate that brain function can be a changeable thing. Just take one thing at a time and work toward health. Good luck to you.
