Horrible facial sore from Cpap

My husband has been using the cpap for a few months. He just got a new mask and after one night, he woke up with a horrible sore on his cheek, near his nose and the whole area was swollen. He tried icing his cheek and then tried warm compresses, which led to some leakage out of the sore. Last night he used the cpap mask again and this morning his eye is swollen. It looks like the pus from the cheek sore moved up under his eye. The sore is still on his cheek too. Has anyone had this problem? Any ideas to get rid of the sore and swelling?
