Posted by millich on July 24, 2009 at 08:27:29:I just got the results of my titration study. I'd really appreciate your help with a few questions so that I can be prepared for my doctor's appointment.
The highest pressure used was 13. At 13, I still had 11.7 AHI (down from 33) and was a bit uncomfortable because I needed to burp and couldn't! Doctor recommendations: "Because of the required pressure of 14cm/H20, a trial of Auto Adjust CPAP and C-Flex of 3 is preferable. Set pressures at 4.0 to 20cmH2O. Data collection can be downloaded after a few weeks to evaluate compliance, and to possibly switch to a fixed pressure machine. If auto adjust is unsuccessful, then consider Bi-level therapy."
Questions:
1) what is C-Flex?
2) is a pressure of 20 high?
3) bi-level therapy allows a lower pressure during exhalation (and burping), correct?
4) Bi-PAP and auto adjusting PAP aren't mutually exclusive are they? You could have a machine that does both, can't you?I've read here that insurance won't pay for bi-pap until a few months of failed CPAP. I don't want to waste those months and I don't want to set myself up for failure. If I have to pay for it myself, so be it. But, I need your help to know what to ask for.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
