Although I'm one of those who consistently recommends the humidifier when a CPAP user complains of sinusitis, I totally agree with you: Some people need the humidifier and some don't.

When the health of the nasal membranes is in any way somewhat compromised, such as low-grade allergies, very dry desert air, chronic low-grade dehydration from not drinking enough water, high levels of air pollution, etc., etc., etc., the volume of air from the CPAP can be enough to push the patient over the edge. Producing copious amounts of mucous is the body's first defense.

Speaking very generally, I've found that people who have suffered from sleep apnea for a time are not in optimum overall health.

And it's nice you don't need the humidifier. It's one less thing to fuss with. Cheers.
