From my chemistry class in the dark ages as I will be 70 in October...de-Ionized water is water with the ions removed for certain experiments and may not be as pure as distilled water. The resins used in removing the ions may still be there. Ask your pharmacist about sterile water which they give to CPAP users at many hospitals in the US. Then use white vinegar once a week full strength to clean your container. leave the vinegar in for at least an hour..then clean the tank with tap water 4 times. before filling it with sterile water again.
