If you're seriously thinking about a oral appliance for sleep apnea, DO NOT BECOME DISCOURAGED by what will certainly be a low and perhaps un-useful amount of responses here on the sleepnet APNEA-CPAP form. Posing that question here is almost like writing your question in a foreign language - most people won't or don't know what to say back. My suggestion is (for you) to seek out a qualified dentist and have him/her discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these appliances in a private face to face consultation with all your medical history known to the dentist. You'd do even better to consult with a dentist who does this practice FULL TIME and not a dentist or orthodontist who makes an appliance just every so often. There are dentist's who do this full time in just about every major city. Google 'Dental Sleep Medicine'. There are many dentists in the US that maintain their own website that are full of Q & A information about dental appliances. These sites are probably a better resource than this forum.
