Eric:

I live in the U.S. and have mixed apnea.

During my last two emergency surgeries I was given a spinal but none were effective and while in the OR the MD had to give me a general each time.

I now need one more surgery but my pulmonologist refuses to permit me to have another because the problem has not yet become a threat to my life and he knows I will not be able to wake up from the general.

There is no way around this and I am not prepared to live on a vent forever.
