Many CPAP machines track apneas, but I don't know how well they differentiate between central and obstructive apneas. (I looked at a report from my machine; it labels obstructive apneas but doesn't show central apneas. I wonder if it could be treating all apneas as obstructive.) You might need a sleep study to track both types accurately.
When I had a problem with repeated wakings, my sleep doctor suggested that part of the problem was old habits. My body had become accustomed to waking frequently, and I had to relearn how to sleep through the night. My doctor suggested that I might potentially need to use sleeping pills for a few days to break my old habits, though I found that I slowly became better at sleeping through the night without the use of pills.
There could also be other factors (such as GERD) that are interfering with your sleep. Sometimes the CPAP interferes with my sleep as well.
